Richest Temples in India
India has deep roots of spirituality and religion. Every year thousands of
visitors frequent these religious
places and
temples owing to the religious importance and significance these temples carry.
Many people regardless of their religion offer
various things in cash and kind. It is not a bribe but a token of respect,
faith and belief. There are some of the temples where these offerings amount to
a huge collection of cash, GOLD,
ornaments gems and various other things.
1. Padmanabhaswamy Temple
The riches of all the temples in India is the Padmanabhaswamy
temple. The temple has six secret chambers. 4 out of these chambers houses the
documents and other valuable, but chamber A and chamber B stores the valuables
and cash donated and offered by devotees. Recently in June 2011, a committee of
7 member opened Chamber A and found treasures worth $20bn. The treasure belongs
to the Travancore Royal Family. The committee found tones of gold coins &
jewelry, sacks of DIAMONDS and
other precious stones lying untouched from thousands of years. Chamber ‘B’ is
however not opened yet. It is just one chamber that made Padmanabhaswamy temple
the richest in the world.

2. Saibaba Temple, Shirdi:

to Saibaba, the Shirdi temple is the third richest in the nation. It sees
millions of devotees from different religions and castes every day.

3.Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara
Temple:
The Tirupati temple at Andhra
Pradesh is now the second richest temple in India. It gets visits from over 60,000 devotees every day. During festivals
1,00,000 to 5,00,000 visitors. Actor Amitabh Bachchan, a devotee of
Tirupati’s Venkateswara deity, has made several generous DONATIONS to
the temple including a whopping Rs 51
lakh.

4. Siddhivinayak, Mumbai:
This is one temple frequented by commoners and
celebrities alike including the Bachchans, Shilpa Shetty and Deepika Padukone.
The income of this temple including donations goes upto Rs 100-500 million Rupees. every year. The dome over Ganesha is coated
in 3.7 kilos of gold that was
donated by a Kolkata-based businessman.

4. Harmandir Sahib or the Golden
temple, Punjab:
The
holiest shrine in the Sikh religion has its walls decorated with wooden panels
and elaborates gold and silver work. The
canopy is made with gold and silver. The ‘Adi Granth' (Guru Granth Sahib) is
studded with precious stones, diamonds and gems.
5.Vaishno Devi, Kashmir:
This
temple is one of the oldest in the country. It gets more than 4.5 million
visitors every year and an income of Rs 500 crore annually.
